Fall Outfits 2012

On of my Tangerine Tote philosophies is, is that a pair of shoes make an outfit POP. I was in NY this week and experienced a lot of crazy weather. I flew to NY the day of a Nor’easter and it was nothing like I expected. I arrived in NY around 3pm and the storm just started dusting beautiful snow on the wings of the plane, and I thought to myself, “wow, how lovely.” Quickly after I grabbed my tangerine tote from baggage claim and stepped outside I realize how drastic a northeastern is. That night the streets of NY were covered in a fresh blanket of snow and the snowflakes were so thick they looked like cotton balls. It was amazing how quickly the weather changed.

Six days in NY lead to a bizarre change in the weather. It started as a crazy blizzard to beautiful 65 and sunny fall day to gloomy rain. Now, I wasn’t complaining, I saw NY for everything it was, and I loved it. My trip inspired me to collaborate my shoes in my wardrobe and make useful, effortless fall outfits inspired by them and to prepare myself for drastic weather changes whenever I travel. Yes, some of these shoes are some of my favorites that I saved an arm and leg for them, but if you are a 20-something-year-old living in NY you probably are not going to run to Bergdorf Goodman and buy a brand new pair of nude Miu Miu pumps. Of course, if you have the “mullah” go right ahead. You can also try Saks off 5th, Nordstrom Rack and T.J. Maxx for discount designer goods which may require a lot of “digging” through shoe and clothing racks (which I so LOVE to do). But, if you don’t want to take the time and want designer look-a-likes try Target, Zara, Forever 21 and H&M. Also, checking out vintage and consignment shops in your neighborhood is a great place to find hidden gems. I promise you will find something similar in these less expensive stores than the shoes you’ll see in this year’s Nordstrom Christmas catalog. Check these looks out and let me know what you think!
