Nordstrom Stacked Wrist Winner!

Sorry everyone – it has been too long and I owe you all so much. I have been busy settling down into a new job and my life has gone from a comfortable pace to a rapid one. Now that I’m settling in, I am excited to announce that in the time of absence, I was one of Nordstrom‘s Stack Wrist winners (click here for details). @Nordtrom‘s Instagram handle encouraged its followers to take a selfie of your stacked bracelets and wrist combo accessories and hashtag your photo with #stackedwrist. In order to be considered in the contest, you were also encouraged to sign up for the sweepstakes on their website. I was SO excited to enter and add the hashtags to all my wrist shots (accessories are probably one of my favorite things to Instagram). Check out my @TediTsuruda Instagram here. What do you think of the #Stackedwrist instagram images below? Think they’re worthy of being a Nordstrom winner?

Valentine flowers

Valentine flowers

Hello~ I would like to apologize for my lack of posts this past week. It’s been a crazy transitional period in my life: possible new city, new travel opportunities, new endeavors – all exciting and very crazy.  I can’t wait to share all these things with you once they become a reality.  Secondly, I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s day. I shared this picture with you on Tangerine Tote’s Facebook page here, but I hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s day eating chocolates, watching silly romantic movies and maybe spending time with a significant other.

Portland Flea with Mochi Tsuruda

Portland Flea with Mochi Tsuruda

Mochi and I had a fantastic weekend! We were able to visit and interview Kate Keefe Sullivan, the owner and creator of the Portland Flea. I love interviewing inspirational individuals that start a business or organization based on their dream or vision. Kate was so passionate about the Portland Flea, her vendors well being and the type of merchandise they sell. It was great seeing her talk about her dream and then actually seeing it in reality. Very inspiring.

Mochi and I had a ball on Sunday. It’s great to spend all my time with her on the weekends. Mochi just finished puppy school on Tuesday and I am excited to show off her new skills at the office this week! I am lucky because I have the opportunity to bring my dog to work and Mochi will make a great office addition.

The Whole Bowl photo editing - lazy Sunday

The Whole Bowl photo editing – lazy Saturdays

I love editing photos in the morning. It’s refreshing to look at great images while sipping on a homemade latte. I had such a wonderful time chatting with Tim from The Whole Bowl. I received his “thank you” note and inside was a Whole Bowl gift card for my next three BIG whole bowls! THANK YOU! One of the best gifts I could ever ask for.

fortune truth

Ha! HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! It’s the year of the snake and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s my year, yippee!  I am currently taking this Chinese New Year in stride. I can’t wait to see what happens. After my boss returned from London last week he gave me a fortune cookie with this fortune stating, “stop taking pictures with your iPhone and start talking to the person next to you.” Naturally, I had to take a picture of this. ha! Xin Nian Kuai Le everyone! xx .. and what better way to kick off Chinese new year with a trip to Hong Kong and Shanghai?

Hong Kong

Hong Kong – 2012

Last April, I said goodbye to this magical city. I took this instagram (@teditsuruda) photo on my very last and most rememberable night in Hong Kong. Honestly it couldn’t have been more lovelier. I am so excited to return to Hong Kong, because it seriously is going to be amazing for many reasons. I can’t wait to take pictures, walk alongside the Hong Kong harbor, and to top all of it off, I get to see my best friend, Winnie Tsui and travel in Hong Kong and China with two of my sorority sisters from college. It’s going to feel amazing being back in my old stomping grounds. See you in two weeks, Hong Kong! After visiting several days in Hong Kong, I get to visit my absolute favorite city in the world, Shanghai. I can’t necessarily describe why I love Shanghai so much. I think one of the reasons is because in this city I have never felt so much inspiration in one place. I can’t wait to share all my travel and fashion diaries with you.

Stay tuned and I hope everyone has a fabulous week. Thanks for reading this week’s Pretty Things. xx

New inspiration notebook for Tangerine Tote

New inspiration notebook for Tangerine Tote

This week’s Pretty Things highlights my crazy but productive week for “Tangerine Tote.” I have been busy thinking about awesome new ideas to share with all of you as well as talking to more local businesses in Portland to feature on my site.  I decided to collect my ideas and thoughts in the three journals I found at Target. Each of them has an inspirational quote on each of their covers. I thought the red and polka dot, William Shakespeare journal would be a good one to start with. TIP: Be sure to carry around a journal in your purse or briefcase so you can jot down random thoughts. It will help you remember ideas or instances you experience in your busy day for later inspirations.

Making "Tangerine" Comos

Making “Tangerine” Comos

Yumm… Tangerine Cosmopolitans. Here is the recipe to WOW your friends (I promise).

Ingredients You Need:

Mix these chilled ingredients together in a large pitcher. Stir. Pour the cosmo mixture over ice in your martini shaker. Shake 100 Xs (or as much as you can).  Pour into your martini glass and serve immediately. The ingredients above equals one batch (serves about 6). It is really easy to double, triple or even quadruple a batch. These cosmos also freeze nicely! You can keep the leftovers in the fridge and treat yourself after a long day at work.

framing postcards

framing postcards

Oh postcards.. they truly are pieces of art. I found the blue + yellow ones in Shanghai and the other NY ones when I was visiting MoMa in NY. In my earlier post this week, Framing Postcards, I talked about how easy and inexpensive it is to frame postcards you find when you travel, walking through an art museum, or visiting a cultural exhibit. These postcards mean a lot to me and remind me of great memories I made at these awesome places.  Go ahead, frame your favorite postcards and start decorating!

Recipe hunting via Smitten Kitchen

Doesn’t this cake look amazing? My aunt let me borrow her Smitten Kitchen Cookbook! I wasn’t familiar with the blog, Smitten Kitchen, but now that my aunt has introduced it to me I am in love with all Smitten Kitchens’ recipes. She truly has an eye on photographing food and her cookbook and blog are full of fantastic recipes (some are simple enough for even me to make). Take a peak at her blog if you are looking for some tasty meals to try out.

Morning coffee - Barista soy vanilla latte

Morning coffee – Barista soy vanilla latte

There is something about a nice cup of coffee, thick sweaters and some bright arm candy on a chilly morning. Once per week, I meet my dear friends, Kamauri (YehWho) and Christina, for early morning coffee before we start our work days. We either go to Portland’s local Barista or Cafe Umbria.  It’s nice to have a weekly catch up to see how everyone is doing and what their weeks are looking like. I love starting these mornings earlier, because I always seem to come to work in a better mood and more awake after a refreshing, early morning chat. If you are finding that you are in a funk or your week days are blending in too much with one another, try switching up your routine and adding an early morning yoga class or starting a weekly coffee date with friends.

My Arm Candy:

Hope everyone had a great weekend and you are all ready to start another exciting week! Looking forward to posting more DIY project and local business reviews. xx

Knit Sweaters + Winter Prints

winter prints
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. It was very crisp and cold in Portland this weekend, but it was about time to do another fashion photo sesh. I was excited to take pictures of my favorite Jack. BB Dakota pattern pants, H&M black knit turtle neck sweater and classic pointy black Zara pumps (details on items below). What do you think?

Can anyone wear printed pants? Yes. Knowing your body’s proportions are important and it’s a fundamental rule for wearing crazy printed pants. These pants are particularly more intimidating to wear because of their light color. I feel that darker patterns and prints are “easier” to wear. These tight jeans go lovely with this dark oversized sweater and black pumps. These pumps help show off a longer and leaner profile and give you that extra height and length.

Accessories complete this look. I love using my vintage Christian Dior bag, Chan Luu wrap bracelet, custom kunzite ring and my everyday Michael Kors watch, Stella&Dot spike bracelet, and cable bracelet.

WinterPrint Zara Pumps
I love these classic black pointy pumps from Zara. It makes me happy that pointy pumps are coming back!

Winter Print Smiles
I had so much fun taking pictures with my friend Ashley on a cold Saturday. It was literally freezing, but I am glad these pictures don’t show Portland’s true temperature. What do you think?

Photo Diary: Park City, Utah

Main Street
It has been great being back in Utah. I always like making the short trip up to Park City. It’s such a beautiful, fun and trendy place. I felt like a tourist with my Sony NEX, even though I have traveled to Park City dozens of times. It was the day after Christmas, but the Holiday spirit was still in the air. If you get the chance to visit this destination gem you will see a great mix of people: ski bums, celebrities (during Sundance Film Festival), and mountain fashionistas. Andrew and I walked around Park City’s Main Street, shopped around in all the local boutiques, and finally retreated into the iconic Cow Java for a hot chocolate. It was a short trip, but the skiing is fabulous and the lodges are a charming retreat from a cold day on the mountain. Enjoy the pictures.

Snowboards

None of the restaurants or shops need any decor in the front of their shops. Different art is displayed throughout the day when skiers and boarders rest their gear along the walls of the restaurants and stores.

Ski Lift

It’s amazing that Park City is literally nestled next to Park City Ski Resort. You can take a chair lift right off Park City’s Main Street and go straight to the slopes. It’s pretty incredible and unique to this mountain town.

Furry Hood

Utah is known for its dry weather. Compared to the weather and snow back in Oregon, Utah’s snow is dry and almost looks like powder sugar when you step in it. I didn’t wear a water resistant jacket, but was able to get away with a hooded down jacket, white tee and scarf.

I have quite the collection of jewelry but I have my everyday set I wear on my right wrist: watch, small cuff and spike bracelet. Accompanied with my jewelry is my go-to Louis Vuitton speedy bag and my shopping bag from Park City’s boutique, Flight. It was perfect for Park City.

Boots are probably your most important accessory when traveling to the mountain or in Utah for that matter. I recently received these Sorel boots as a present and I couldn’t be happier with them. I have never really worn this style of boot, but once I was in Utah, Sorel boots are everywhere. I am so happy with these, and this pair is “a must have” when visiting somewhere snowy and cold like Utah.
